Louisville Dog Parks

This weekend we took Mom on a #DogParkExtravaganza for her Birthday.  Hey…

She wanted to go!!!

Louisville (& surrounding area) is home to 13 dog parks.  8 of them are owned by Louisville Dog Run Association.  Membership of $30 dollars per dog ($20 for extra dog) are required along with city license and up-to-date vaccinations.  We decided that the $50 was worth it since we travel through Louisville a lot and we live about an hour from there.

You can get your membership by visiting Feeders Supply (a pretty awesome pet store that is becoming popular in our neighborhood) Make sure you have

  • Current Vaccinations Records
  • City License & Tag
  • Rabies Tag

Of the 8 LDRA dog parks, we visited 7.  We did not visit the Elizabeth Cleland Cauley Dog Park @ Wendell More Park -it was a little ways outside of Louisville in Oldham County.

The other 5 dog parks located in Louisville are not owned by LDRA.

We drove by Hays Kennedy & Norton Commons; they were nothing really to write home about.  We did not make it out to Jeffersonville Dog Park or Morton Street Dog Park.

These are the ones we did make it to, and we have ranked them as well:

  1. Yeah. Great if you do not have children under 10. Not allowed in dog park area… I guess the LDRA would rather her you leave your kids in the car. This is why so many complexes in Louisville have dog parks now due to the authoritarian rules of LDRA.
Do not require dogs to be castrated though… But ban the kids!

  2. What a wonderful way to spend your mom’s birthday. Looks like you had the run of all the parks and they are all so nice! I don’t take my dogs to the dog park, but I love to watch dogs there.

  3. Great post, especially for those traveling through the area! My humans were at the Tom Sawyer park, it was amazing! Quick question, is that membership per year? Do they do day passes???
